Bake Your Very Best Pie Contest

BAKE YOUR VERY BEST PIE CONTEST

DATE: Saturday, November 9th, 2024
TIME: 1:00 p.m. LOCATION: EXPO Exhibit Hall "A"
This contest is open to amateur bakers 16 years of age and up.
No Professional Bakers Please.
Is it a pumpkin or a blueberry pie? Perhaps, it's a key lime or lemon meringue pie. Maybe, it's a rhubarb, chocolate silk, or sweet potato pie. You make your very best pie and bring it to be judged!

Preregistration is not required. Prepare your entry at home. On the day of the contest each contestant with their prepared entry will be admitted free through any gate and directed to the EXPO Exhibit Hall "A".

Prizes
1st Prize - Blue Ribbon and $100.00
2nd Prize - Red Ribbon and $75.00
3rd Prize White Ribbon and $50.00

Appearance: 25%
Creativity: 25%
Texture: 25%

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Type your recipe on an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper. The recipe must include: your name, address, contact phone number, and email address in the lower right hand corner.
2. Directions for preparing the recipe must be clear. Measurements should be level cups, tablespoons, teaspoons or fractions thereof. Also, include the pan size, cooking length, temperature, number of servings, and any other pertinent information. (If you use a frozen pie crust, you must disclose this on your recipe.)
3. Baking ingredients must be readily available in grocery stores. Contestants may submit more than one type of pie, but only one entry per participant can win.
4. Entries should be submitted in a disposable container for judging.
5. Pies must be dessert pies, sweet not savory; no quiche or main dish pies.
6. Contestants should arrive early on the day of the contest. Judging will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.
7. The fair will select qualified judges for this competition and their decision is final.
8. Entries must be complete and contestants on time or they will be disqualified.
9. This competition is not open to professional cooks or chefs. All amateur cooks are eligible. An amateur cook
is one who enjoys cooking for family and friends and not for a salary.

Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of judging. Checks will be mailed after the fair.

Photos and recipes for this contest will become the property of the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair, which reserves the right to edit, adapt, copyright, publish, and use for publicity, promotion, or advertising without compensation.
